Financial Giving
Financial gifts to Rapid City Christian School from parents, friends,
businesses, churches, and alumni provide our faculty with the tools to fulfill
its mission and trustees with the ability to keep tuition
as low as possible. Since needs for the school vary, trustees have arranged a
number of funds for utilizing gifts and they welcome benefactors to choose which
fund most appropriately matches the burden the Lord has assigned to them.
As you consider using your financial assets to advance Christ's kingdom, we hope
you’ll seek wisdom from God to decide how much to give and where to allocate it.
Descriptions of Funds
Annual Fund
One of the great traditions of private education in America is alumni support of their alma mater’s annual fund. The greatest schools have prospered and grown, in a large part, due to the strong financial support of friends and alumni.
Together with tuition income, the annual fund is one of the two major sources of revenue for RCCS. Gifts to the annual fund help cover the costs of faculty salaries and continued education, library and laboratory acquisitions, athletic and music equipment, administrative support, and other services. As the foundation upon which the school builds its entire program, the annual fund provides a meaningful way for supporters to participate in the school’s ongoing educational mission.
We hope you will join others in making a yearly annual fund donation.
Tuition Gap Fund
“Tuition Gap” is the GAP between the actual cost of educating a
student at RCCS and the tuition paid for that student. Most Christian schools
have at least some tuition gap and rely on fundraisers and the generosity of
benefactors to make up the difference.
In 2008-2009, the Tuition Gap was roughly $2,800 per student.
TAS Fund
The RCCS Tuition Assistance Scholarship Fund is maintained by generous contributors who believe in making the benefits of a Christian education available to deserving families otherwise unable to provide it for their children. TAS will award tuition discounts up to 50% to families that qualify. Contributors include a number of individuals, businesses, churches, and charitable foundations. TAS offers a 25% tuition discount to full-time Christian pastors.
Endowment
RCCS’s endowment is small but growing. As it increases, investment income will be used to support scholarships, salaries, and special projects designed to perpetuate the core purposes of the school.
Traditionally, planned gifts make up a substantial portion of a private school’s endowment—and for good reason. Bequests quite naturally result from one’s vision of the meaningful work and long-term influence one wishes to see continued after death, and a school’s endowment is designed to help ensure just such a vision.
For each of us it is never too early—or too prudent—to make our will, choosing today what we would leave as our legacy to the future.

Ways to Give
Cash --
The most common and easiest way to support RCCS is by giving cash.
Matching Gifts -- Many employers will match a donor’s charitable gifts. If your company or firm has a matching gifts program, simply enclose the form along with your check.
Stock -- Stocks or other investments that have grown in value can become a substantial gift made at low net cost to the donor.
Real Estate -- Many donors find considerable tax advantages in giving houses, land, farms, or commercial properties.
Gifts in Kind -- RCCS welcomes the donation of many items of value. We need band instruments, library books, sports equipment, etc. Gift value is determined by the donor through appraisal or record of purchase.
Bequests
-- Including RCCS in your will through a bequest is an effective way to make a gift which might not be possible during your lifetime. By designating the school as the beneficiary of a specific portion of your estate, you play a vital role in the school’s future.
Memorial and Honorary Gifts -- Many donors prefer to make a gift in someone else’s name. Donations may be made in memory of a deceased loved one or specified to honor a family member or member of the RCCS faculty or administration.
For more information about ways in which you can support the school, please
feel free to contact RCCS.
